About Me

Hi, I’m Steve West, and I write stuff. This is my website, thanks for being here.

The biggest thing I’m known for is the Kingsmoot series of fantasy novellas, which you can find more about by clicking the link at the top of the page. I’m now working on a sequel trilogy of novels.

I also write mystery stories, and you can find bits about them here too.

Plus, I occasionally blog about media I’ve been interested in, especially fantasy books by other authors, and you can find them in my blog linked above.

AI Statement

I abhor AI as it is known today. There has been considerable effort to blur the lines between “good” AI, like image detection for cancer, and “bad” AI, like everything that is generative. There are numerous reasons they are bad, but I will not go into that here.

I do not use AI in any aspect of my writing, including but not limited to ideation, outlining, drafting, writing, revising, or editing my books.

I use Scrivener to write. I get ideas from my own mind. I use spellcheck in Scrivener. I use ProWritingAid for grammar checking (although they seem to be jumping on the AI bandwagon and I may need to change that). I publish my own books using Vellum to format them. And all my books use both covers and maps from real, paid artists.

To the best of my knowledge I don’t use AI for anything.

Data Gathered

I don’t collect any data from you (honestly, I don’t use it so I don’t care to gather it).

Still, some data is gathered automatically. If you comment on something, there’s probably some data gathered and used to make sure you’re not spam. There might be other things at other points, but like I said, nothing I intend to grab and keep.

The only thing I deliberately gather is your email address, and then only to add you to my email list.

For everything else, if I discover it saved on the site somewhere, I’ll most likely turn off the setting that saves it and delete the data.

In summary, I don’t want your data and I do as little as possible to keep it, and if I do accidentally have it I guarantee I’ll never sell it.
